Today's your lucky day, cold and hungry undead are in your area. You don't have much time left before they swarm what's left of your survivor group. Your mission is to protect your homebase, your allies and yourselves through any means necessary.

Invasion Day is a Tower-Defence cooperative survival game where players must collect resources, craft building components and construct defences that will hold off incoming hordes. Your success is reliant on ensuring everyone survives. Work together and help each other fortify their locations, keep survivors alive, and show them who's boss.

At the center of the map is the Homebase, a makeshift shelter that houses survivors in your group. It also stores resources, the kitchen and the infirmary. This is where most of your survivors go with nothing to do, or during the night. If there are survivors stationed there, you can craft components for building or upgrades. While survivors are armed and capable of fighting back, the only thing protecting the building itself are some walls made of rock and metal, some wooden stakes and barbed wire.

A short distance away from Homebase are the player safebases, which aren't as well equipped but still quite useful. Like with homebase, players can ensure survivors are safe here, although they cannot store resources. Each player can decide where their safebase goes, but be realistic, and ensure that your base is in a reasonable spot so that survivors can access towers, turrets and homebase.

Use your materials to build towers, turrets and static defences. Some only need raw, basic resources, others require components that need crafting. Assigning survivors to each player shortens the distance needed to access weapons. Towers do require a small amount of resources to make ammo, but not much. For example, only a few units of wood and stone are needed to make a few hundred arrows for an archer tower. Ammo takes time to make, so you should stockpile if you can.

To join, simply give me some coordinates and I'll plop your base down.

How to play it
- THIS GAME IS NOT INTENDED TO BE COMPLEX and I will guide you through everything. It just looks that way. Please ask questions.
- You begin with 40 survivors, a small amount of resources, some food and a river. It's important to fortify the location quickly, so start with building defences.
- You can assign survivors different jobs. You can designate medics for keeping people healthy, farmers to grow crops and scavengers to harvest resources. Survivors will automatically keep each other alive by farming and collecting materials but will not grow without player input.
- Constructing towers and turrets will give survivors the ability to fight back against hordes. Towers must be   armed by survivors but have more defence and last longer. Turrets are automated but are more likely to be   targeted and have less defence.
- Your survivor population will increase over time. Level up your team to gain access to new recipes, materials and defences.

STRUCTURES:
Wooden wall: a plain wall made of wood. Keeps zombies out. 150 HP. 50 wood, 20 branches and sticks.

Stone wall: a plain wall made of stone. Keeps zombies out. 250HP. 60 stone, 30 wood, 10 branches and sticks.

Reinforced makeshift wall: a wall made of wood, stone and scrap metal. Keeps zombies out. 350 HP. 40 stone, 40 wood, 15 branches and sticks, 5 scrap metal.

Wooden roof: a roof made of wood. Protects resources from rain, and can shelter survivors. Requires walls. 30 wood, 10 branches and sticks.

Scrap metal roof: a roof made with scrap metal places. Requires walls. Protects resources from rain, and can shelter survivors. 15 wood, 5 scrap metal.

Wooden bridge: can be used to safely connect 2 or more points, allowing survivors to walk across and stay above ground. Also acts like a roof. Requires walls. 40 wood, 20 branches and sticks.

Scrap metal bridge: can be used to safely connect 2 or more points, allowing survivors to walk across and stay above ground. Also acts like a roof. Requires walls. 20 wood, 10 scrap metal.

Crop plot: literally free farming space provided you have room.

Garden bed: a raised bed for growing more fragile crops. 20 wood, 200 soil.

STATIC DEFENCE:
Shallow Moat: a ditch filled with water and not much else. Slows down hostiles substantially. Survivors can jump or bridge across. Grants 1500 KG of soil per metre. Requires 1000 L of water per metre or a connection to a water source.

Deep moat: a deeper ditch filled with water and not much else. Slows down or stops hostiles, likely drowning them if they can't escape. Survivors can jump or bridge across. Grants 3000 KG of soil per metre. Requires 2000L of water per metre.

Stake fence: a bunch of wooden spikes angled outwards to form a chest height fence. Hostiles take damage when attacking or walking close to the fence. 10 damage. 50HP. 10 wood, 20 branches and sticks.

Spike mat: a bunch of short wooden spikes in the ground, poorly covered with leaves and random foliage. Deals damage when hostiles walk over them. 10 damage. 30HP. 5 wood, 15 branches and sticks, 2 tree bark, 2 tree leaves.

Wood fence: a fence. Stops hostiles from progressing, and can be used to lead them into death traps. Survivors can easily climb over. 75HP. 15 wood, 10 branches and sticks.

Stone fence: a fence, but rocks. Stops hostiles from progressing, and can be used to lead them into death traps. Survivors can easily climb over. 130HP. 20 stone, 10 wood.

Razor wire: cheap and simple defensive measure. Deals small amounts of damage to nearby enemies. Loses health when dealing damage. 5 damage. 25HP. 2 scrap metal. Makes 3 razor wire.

Czech hedgehog: there's no tanks, but it can slow down enemies anyway. Survivors can climb over. 100HP. 20 scrap metal, iron or steel.

Thermite trap: a kilo of thermite covered with some sticks and leaves, ignited with a pressure switch. This is a somewhat cheap and effective single-use trap that burns fiercely once activated. Instant 20 damage and ignites targets. 8 thermite, 1 copper, 32 g magnesium, 4 tree leaves, 1 branches and sticks. Makes 8 traps.

Bear trap: Good luck getting out of this. Enemies trapped on this are held in place and cannot attack or move. Instant 50 damage and causes bleedout over time. 10 scrap metal, iron or steel.

Wooden archer tower: basic archery defence. Attacks up to 3 hostiles per turn with a 20 tile range. 20 damage, 200HP. 30 stone, 60 wood. 1 wood and 1 stone required for 100 arrows.

Stone archer tower: basic archery defence. Attacks up to 3 hostiles per turn with a 20 tile range. 20 damage, 300 HP. 70 stone, 30 wood. 1 wood and 1 stone required for 100 arrows.

Wooden crossbow tower: long-range archery defence. Attacks up to 2 hostiles per turn with a 30 tile range. 30 damage. 200HP. 50 stone, 80 wood, 5 scrap metal, iron or steel. 2 wood and 2 stone for 150 bolts.

Stone crossbow tower: long range archery defence. Attacks up to 2 hostiles per turn with a 30 tile range. 30 damage. 300 HP. 90 stone, 60 wood, 5 scrap metal, iron or steel. 2 wood and 2 stone for 150 bolts.

Wooden Ballista tower: powerful "archery" defence. Attacks a single hostile per turn with a 40 tile range. 50 damage. 200HP. 50 stone, 150 wood, 20 scrap metal, iron or steel. 5 wood and 5 stone for 100 bolts.

Stone Ballista tower: powerful "archery" defence. Attacks a single hostile per turn with a 40 tile range. 50 damage. 300 HP. 150 stone, 70 wood, 20 scrap metal, iron or steel. 5 wood and 5 stone for 100 bolts.

Volcano tower: very powerful (and slow) cannon defence. A crude but effective mounted flintlock firing sizable rocks. Attacks a single hostile every 2 turns with a 35 tile range. 90 damage. 250 HP. 100 stone, 150 wood, 20 scrap metal, iron or steel, 5 flint. Uses 5 stone and 1 black powder per 30 shots. Uses 1 flint per 100 shots.

Blunderbuss tower: very powerful (and slow) cannon defence. Fires many projectiles at once from a wide bore crude flintlock. Attacks one or more hostiles every 3 turns with a 25 tile range. 10*50 damage. 250 HP. 120 stone, 160 wood, 30 scrap metal, iron or steel, 10 flint. Uses 10 stone and 2 black powder per 20 shots. Uses 1 flint per 100 shots

And now, the moment 2 people have been waiting for, a slight chance at this game becoming successful in the long term, The Game Is Starting

As you can see, there are some pre-placed static defences. These are insufficient, and it's important to coordinate your efforts and allocate resources to towers. Be careful, though, as dumping all your resources into building right now isn't a good idea.

Survivors are currently not assigned to any jobs, so decide where they'll go. You can allocate doctors for keeping people alive, gardeners to accelerate food production, harvesters to gather primary resources (wood, stone, metals), engineers to craft resources or build structures and scavengers to acquire less common resources (scrap, chemicals and supplies)

Alright, depending on whenever or not we share 40 survivors, or we have 40 survivors each:

- In case we share, I allocate part of survivors into following:
* 2 fishermen, as I see a river. Some free food is gonna do for now.
* 1 doctor. Let's keep it at one every 40-80 survivors, shall we?
* 3 lumberjacks, for essential wood.
* 1 prospector, should be enough to find ores from stone.
* 3 miners, for both stone and metal.
* 2 farmers - I can't see any gardens!
* 4 scavengers - that will do.
* 4 engineers - should be two for each resource.

Total allocation is 20.

Now, 8 archer towers for the homebase and two for each of our extended outposts would seem nice... eh, we probably can get away with four + two for outposts, which we have two - Luigi's and my bases.

We have 1000 stone and wood each. Doing 4 stone towers and 2 wood towers would cost us 340 stone and 240 wood in total. Then there's arrow cost. Which we should make 300 of for good start: 50 for each tower, enough for 16 turns at worst. This costs just 9 wood and stone.

This should protect the first outpost - the river is a natural barrier, so we shouldn't touch this one.

The turn order:

Surrounding towers with stake fences should ensure they won't take as much damage - and it's cheap too.

I'll leave the other tower placement to Luigi.

I think the hut might need investigation. We might need a scouting party of six to be safe. And we need them armed with bows, crossbows or spears. Either way, something either cheap and/or practical.

I'm gonna have to stop you right there, I should probably have clarified these things first, that's my fault, but here's what I need to address.

1. I don't know if Luigi has coordinated any of this with you. You should probably do some of that. You definitely haven't coordinated with me, as I'm now a player too.
2. The river is a natural barrier, yes, but it won't stop enemies entirely, they'll just move slower through it, and there's a bridge they can cross. You can't outright ignore it.
3. There are no fishermen, and no fishing, as the waters are dead from pollution. There are also no specific types of harvesters, no miners, lumberjacks or prospectors, just people to harvest raw materials. Also, there are both grain plots and gardens close to base, and information about it down below.

Yes, I didn't ignore that bridge by suggesting tower locations to protect the flanks, I think.

In any case, I suggest that:

Out of fourty people we have -
Six form a hunting/scouting party to search the hut.
One keep our people healthy (doctor)
Four maintain our gardens and farming plots, harvesting crops. Because there's only four plots so far, and only forty survivors, I think we can get away with four for now, and increase it once we have makeshift defences ready.
Eight people would harvest natural resources and eight more should get into scavenging. Six would protect bases and two of our outposts. Since your base is close to the main base, 
Six more would be doing construction. And one would be making arrows.

As for placements and the suggestions, are you two fine with the placement of five of the towers? It should protect the bases, but I intend for it to be six towers - one last would be to protect Luigi's outpost.

Oh, and yeah, the river. We could barricade the shore, I guess.

The locations of the towers are fine, Luigi and I can choose what towers and static defences will protect our bases. It's really up to you. What sort of stuff would you want defending the river?

The hunting party cautiously approach the dilapidated hut, but find it empty. Must have been cleared long ago for supplies.

We do have animals and scavengers will hunt them for meat if instructed. Now with survivors assigned to harvesting and scavenging, we can send them out to find resources (either random or specific).
