Take what grade you're in in an american school (or, if you've been moved forward or back, what grade you WOULD be if you hadn't), and add 1, that's what year you're in.
If it's less than or equal to 3, it's I
If it's 4, 5, or 6, it's J
If it's 7,8,9,10, or 11, it's SS
If it's 12 or 13, it's SF or C but I'm not actually sure what the difference is between a sixth form and a college here
Otherwise, if you're in university in the US then you are in the UK too.
