I think Anna had a post here that had to do with why the OP was bad, was it deleted?

Proposal: since roleplay refers to a game where outcomes are decided on the spot, and RPG refers to a game where dice is rolled and the "inner workings" are generally more complex(e.g. requires maps), the actual word "role playing game" should refer to a game where dice isn't used but the game is still complex.
She/they, likes collecting Stamps and playing runescape. Veteran of the Sandwich War.

No, this is just getting ridiculous. Every RPG is an RPG. The mechanics don't matter, what matters is whether you RP in it. Which all RPGs have.

One thing that you shouldn't do in the beginning of a role play is start out right next to whoever you will interact with soon. I see these posts more than I'm willing to count...

Bad example:
Gumdrop woke up, finding herself in the woods. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. She ran her hand through her hair a couple of times, and looked to her right. Over there, by the pond, she saw Esteban (but she didn't know it was Esteban yet). She ran over, very happy to see someone else. "Hi, what's your name?"

Good Example:
Gumdrop woke up, finding herself in the woods. She sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes. She ran her hand through her hair a couple of times, and looked to her right. Over there, by the pond, she saw a deer, which she chased, for what seemed like hours. When she grew tired, she decided to look for a town or something.

A few posts later...

Gumdrop spotted a very miniscule town, which was just down the hill. She rolled down the hill, hurting her arm. Gumdrop rubbed her arm, which ended up shooting pain up her arm. She winced, and stood up, walking towards the town. She spotted a tall, young adult, who seemed friendly enough. She walked over to him cautiously,
and asked, "Hi there, uh..." She stumbled on her words, "Whatever your name is, where's the nearest doctor?"

The good example was not only longer, but it gave her a reason to meet Esteban. The most important part is that she didn't meet Esteban in the first post.

Of course, if the RPG has a valid reason for their meeting early on, it could be justified. For example, if they're shoved in some kind of Hunger Games style arena where they have to survive together.
