Quote from: jji7skylineI can see what you mean. Mba and 360 would be dissappointed if they didn't get to join the tbg team though.
Life is full of disappointments. :P but seriously, imagine how sad I was when ilackoriginality promised to star me in scratch middle school and deleted all his projects the next day.

I still think we should have elections.

I understand what you mean. I would be disappointed too, if I was told that I was going to be an admin and then was demoted before I was promoted. :/

I agree with what Yoshiboy said, though. Believe me, I don't  have a dislike towards MBA or 360 - they're awesome people! I just don't know if they would be best for this job. Now I have seen them mature (such as 360) in how they act. If we did have elections, they could perhaps leave every other candidate in the dust, I don't know. :P

I don't promote this often*, but how about we do it similar to how Scratch does it? Sure, they do it for new moderators, but we could do it for both. We still have a great deal of time before the real ones close down. :)

Anyways, sorry for another long reply. :P I appreciate it if you read it all - thanks. :3

* When I say I don't promote this often I just mean I don't want user forums to be complete copies.

Well, I agree with everything that has been said here, I'm not saying I doubt MBA and 360's leadership; I'm just saying it would be nicer if we tbgers could have a choice and vote, I do think that those two would do a good job, I just want to vote, so you can see who everyone really wants to be a mod.

You guys DID vote in the "who makes a new site" election; we came 2nd and 3rd.

We did? I didn't, but oh well. I am not saying I don't think you would be right for the job.

No offense, but haven't you said that you aren't a 'website maker' before? If that's true, why were you in the election? Fame? :/

Quote from: pfWhy is the userlist hidden? Is there a reason that you personally have, or is it just because the Scratch Fora does so? Because I thought they did it because it showed personal information, but I've never seen one with anything like that....

Just wondering. :D
Bump. :3

Yoshiboy

Please can we all just vote? I am tired of arguing!

360-International

We already did. We'll vote for moderators after the official release.

I appreciate that you've taken the time to think and type such a long post.

But things get more complicated as it gets to practical levels of thinking. Who would be able to run in a hypothetical admin election rather than a mod elections? Wouldn't everyone try to run in the moderator elections?

I think MBA would have used punbb... But I'm not too sure.

If I was elected, I would use something better, like a fluxbb file, and uploaded to some webhost.
And I can make sites now, I have learned CSS and HTML. SO I am a website maker. :/

Quote from: maxdossI suggest that there are no admins, but an admin account that would only be logged on to for stuff like creating new forums and promoting mods. This way things are equal.
We need moderators and admins to remove innapropriate content. And why does it need to be equal?  If you're thinking of the 60 second rule, it's easy to set rules in your games disallowing mods to post more than once a minute.

I've been learning PHP and MySQL, and have read through most of the gigantic book, so I decided to try it out by making a fully functional website. I've decided that the website will be an automated currency for these TBGs.

The website can be found here. Happy TBGing!

Here are all of the current balances:

The rest of this post is a brief documentation of the website.

On the home page, there is a short line of text explaining what the website is. You can login and register on this website. Be sure to use the same username as you did on these forums.

On the TBGs page, there is a list of TBGs. If you are logged in, there is a link: "Register a TBG". Go here to register a TBG you made that uses the currency. People in your TBG must now go to the page for you TBG (you are redirected to it after it's registration) and click on the link "Add me to players list" link. You now have full control over their accounts: You can add or subtract whatever the TBG demands. To do this, go to your TBG's page, type in the amount you want to add (make it negative to subtract), and type the username of the person who owns the account that you want to add/subtract from.
On the list of TBGs, click on one to go to that TBG's page.

On the Users page, there is a list of users. Click on one to go to that user's page. It has their current balance and the TBGs that they are a part of. Click on a TBG to go to it's page.

On the Messages page, there is a list of messages you have, and a delete button. Messages are sent when a TBG owner adds or subtracts money from your account.

To get a list of all of the current balances, use this code:

To get a specific user's balance, use this code:

If you have found a bug or glitch, have a suggestion, or just found a spelling mistake, please post about it below. :)

The website is giving a lot of 500 errors right now, but I don't think that's a problem on my end. If you have any info about this, please post about it below.

You may not make universal currencies at this time. An administrative decision will be made about a universal currency after the official opening of the Text Based Games Forums. Please do not make universal currencies until all arguments have been heard on the matter at the predetermined time.

Oh, sorry, my bad. I've forgotten that one. Let's close this, then.

(On the other hand, though, this does sound like a great idea. Perhaps you could migrate your idea to some other forums and introduce it there?)

(I would be glad to if you know about any active forums with TBG's that isn't The Misc forums.)

I did say it's giving a lot of 500 errors in the OP, so just keep refreshing. Also, it seems it's not allowed; check 360's first reply.
