There's some full-on metal armour, but that might be a little too much. You could also go for some basic leather armour.

After literally six seconds of pondering and checking her wallet, Frales went for the leather armor.

Max decides to just take a quick look at the weapons, hoping to see something that might be used as a tool outside of a fight.

Prang notices Max looking through the equipment section. "Perhaps you would like a fire starting kit? Or rope, we'll want it, if we haven't got it."

Prang looks at the magic book section. Advanced Healing magic is very difficult, and healing potions tend to be highly watered down or even just a drug. Good quality healing potions are expensive though perhaps Wilf can provide enough for the Adventure's Grade potions, which are of actual use.
Nevertheless, Prang buys a book: "Magically Mending Physical Maladies". If nothing else, he'll have a lot of practice.

(So I said healing magic is hard, because otherwise, a doctor like Prang would probably be obsolete, which you seem to have accepted. I am making sure that health potions don't contradict this statement.)

Max turns to Prang and shakes his head before turning to a nearby patch of dirt and pretending to dig through it. He looks at Prang with a questioning look.

Prang flips through a few pages before looking up and saying, "Oh, there are shovels over there." He thinks of an black comedy joke about having to dig graves, but decides against it.

Prang buys a book on healing magic. He's now learning to use intermediate healing magic. ("learning magic" means you can still use it, but it'll be less effective for a while)

Wilf spots a collection of daggers for sale and moseys himself over to it.

"Heya," he says to the shopkeeper, "How much you selling these for?"

Max buys a shovel and, after a bit of internal debate, buys the lowest level healing spellbook available, just in case something happens to Prang.

Prang reflects on the fact that because of this adventure, he now has the drive and money to improve his magic.

Prang is supportive of Max's endeavors into healing. "I see you're taking an interest in healing magic. A very noble branch."

Since he's got more than enough money for whatever he might need right now, Wilf buys one.

(I guess I should probably get your OK with this action but I'm not implementing a money system quite yet and I want to get this moving along)

Max buys a shovel and a spellbook titled "Healing Scratches".
Max is now learning how to cast low-level healing spells.


The group, now properly prepared for the journey ahead, sets off out the gates towards Solunis's capital. However, before they get very far, they're stopped by a group of three Stellysian soldiers who are patrolling the path. One of them moves towards the group, holding his spear.
"Halt! No passage for strangers!"
The other two guards approach from behind. One of them is also holding a spear, while the other has a bow and arrows.

Max searches through his spellbook and locates a spell to cure mild fevers. He shows the passage to the guards before indicating to Prang and his doctor's outfit.

Prang takes the cue. "Hello, I am a physician, I was called to the capital to tend to a sick man, this is my escort, can we come through?"

"Do you have any official identification? By order of the king, nobody without official Stellysian identification can come through.

Yuri, who had her eye on her fellow party members, sifted through her bag because she thought she had forged identification for a second but ultimately didn't.
So she relaxed, attempting to bluff control.

Max takes a quick look in Yuri's bag afterwards, not really expecting to find anything. He turns to the guards, drops his spellbook, and makes a confused face before picking the book back up.

Wilf looks directly at the guard, ignoring everything else going on around him, and says in a serious tone, "We already showed you our identification."

((whenever i mention directly looking that's going to be when Wilf is actively trying to hypnotize someone.))

Yuri made an offhand glare at max, but said nothing.

Prang doesn't mention his doctor's certificate was lost when he was robbed of his medical supplies. Which he would have. He puts a hand to his hidden sword hilt, because one guard is being hypnotised and the other two aren't.

The soldier makes eye contact with Wilf, and becomes hypnotised by him.
"Oh... uh, did you? Yes, I suppose you-"
One of the other guards slaps him, saying "No they didn't!"

The soldier breaks out of the hypnosis, and is now more annoyed.
"Of course they didn't! But what they did do is try to control me!"
The solder grips his spear more tightly, and the other two come up closer beside him.
"Clearly you four are up to no good, and you won't be showing us any identification. We'll just have to take care of you so you don't cause any more trouble!"


Looks like you have no choice but to defeat them in battle to get past.
