As you drift along the vast space you come across a solar system. Wait... your scanners are picking up some life! As you deploy your fleet around the planet you notice that the creatures here have made a complex society. They must be intelligent!

Description of situation: Landed. Creatures have a small base and are examining the shuttle from outside.

Okay. We are a research fleet, but we need some guards in case things go south. I don't just mean Shuttle 5, on the planet's Southern Hemisphere.

I think people misunderstand. I don't mean tiny defense I mean little defense.

Shuttle 5:
Landed. Reports of creatures. They have made "tents" and have "helicopters" flying around the shuttle. They seem interested.

Send a small party of researchers with no weapons to talk them into letting us coexist.

Send explorers from the other shuttles.

The creatures bring "drills" in. It appears they want to breach the hull.

They reply pointing to them self and say "Strof."

Shuttle 1:
The creatures turn off their "camera" which you hadn't noticed before. They reatreat into their tents. Saying "Gpofbue" (These words are all just English words in a code. But this is a research fleet so the code goes away faster thus making it easier to understand. This word has been partially stripped of it's code.)

Shuttle 4:
As you blast into orbit a "shell" hits the craft. Your landing gear is hit.

1: have the explorer point at the vessel and say "spaceship"

4: Check the damage.

3: send an exploration robot.

Shuttle 1:
The Strof writes strof in their language and then shows it to your explorer.

Shuttle 4:
Well... propulsion is fine, life support is good. Hull is compromised but the section has been isolated. Good thing there's another bridge to connect the shuttle's rooms. Landing gear damaged, won't be landing again anytime soon.

Shuttle 3:
The robot drills a rock but is shot because of the drill it gets shot. The shuttle is pelted with "bullets" but the hull is too strong.

1: Have the explorer write "Human" in English. We are American, Right?
3: Remove all weaponry form a second. Send it out.
4: Okay.

Shuttle 1:
Yay! Friends! These are not Americans. They are a mix of nations. Like how the nations worked together to build the ISS, they are working together here.

One strof points to itself and writes "Dyr;;s".

[About their language, removing some of the code makes it more difficult for me to decipher. Maybe you could put partially decoded and not decoded together?]

Have the explorer write "Shuttle," pointing at it.
