It's always night on Charleston Avenue.

The year is 1990. In the rest of Maryland, people are enjoying the information age. A year ago, the Berlin Wall was torn down. Soon, the USSR will become what we know today as Russia. Computers are all the rage. The world population is growing, which means more people, more cars, and more roads.

But there's one road you can't get to by car. In fact, it's impossible to get to it with or without a car, unless you're looking for it. It's Charleston Avenue, and it's populated entirely by normal, law-abiding citizens. It's just that they don't know what the outside world is, and the outside world doesn't know what it is.

This story, however, has nothing to do with the outside world. This is about Charleston Avenue. It essentially lives in the 1930s, a large, two-way street with many Gothic-style houses. They say the people who live there are stinking rich - or rather, they would if anyone said anything about Charleston Avenue. And on January 28, 1990, Major-General Gregory Hughes decided to throw a party.

You are, of course, invited. And you, of course, expect to go. It would be rude not to. What happens there, at Hughes' party, is not set in stone, however. As a matter of fact, no one expected it to happen.

I'll also drop my character sheet here.

Name: Romeo Westwood
Gender: Male
Personality: Can be brash and hotheaded. Easily trusting, however. Often friendly, unless there is an insult directed at him.
Items: Small lighter, handkerchief, and a small pin on his lapel.
Other: Good friend of Hughes. It's night.

-----

RULES:
1. No powerplaying, godmodding, or generally controlling a player or events outside of your control. No Mary Sues.
2. Please try to fit the theme. A Charleston Avenue would hardly carry around a tinderbox or a speargun, especially at a party. However, they could feasibly carry a lighter and a small handgun, for cigars and safety purposes, respectively.
3. If you read the rules, please put "It's night" in Other.

Westwood stood in the entrance, ready to greet anyone he knew (and didn't know). He was ready to tell everyone all about how close he was to Hughes. As a matter of fact, he was arranging to get into the army himself, and figured Hughes could put in a good word for him.

He realized he had no means of driving to an Army headquarters, because he'd never had to drive, in turn because he lived on Charleston Avenue. He did not think terribly hard about this.
