World War III begins. Greece's desire to quickly gain resources devolves into them starting a new empire. Hungary and Croatia form a union. However, this turns sour as Hungary betrays Croatia and goes on a rampage. Western Europe and Ukraine are forced to mobilize.

Europe is now a battleground, with thousands of towns being crushed in the process. Nobody knows who is going to move next. And the battlefield changes rapidly - all sides are willing to use dirty tactics.

The Pheonix Coalition, a group of survivors, now goes through the rubble of towns, finding civilians and helping them escape to safety.

Mechanics
All actions requiring random chance will be done with a d10. This applies to things such as fighting, searching for resources, traversing dangerous terrain, etc. This does not apply to conversation (except when trying to sway someone), minor actions, inter-player actions (i.e, Alice's character hands something to Bob's character), or actions that are guaranteed to succeed or fail (i.e, turning on perfectly working machines will succeed, and trying to catch smoke will fail.)

1 is the worst roll, and is nearly guaranteed to fail. If you couldn't possibly fail, fate will find a way. Only in very few cases would this work to your advantage - i.e, you throw the spear, but trip and cut yourself. This also hurts the man sneaking up behind you.

On the other hand, 10 is the best roll, and is nearly guaranteed to succeed. If it seems like all hope is lost, a good 10 could turn that around. As with 1, only in very few cases would this work against you - i.e, you heal your teammate, but he was a traitor all along, and ends up hurting the other members of your group.

Starting Location


We are in Oberwart, Austria, currently controlled by Hungary. The small town has been destroyed by the battle for its control. The Pheonix Coalition has discovered some survivors, and is preparing to escort them to safety.

End Game
The goal is to escape to safety, wherever that may be - America, Scandinavia, Ukraine, etc. Beware - once you get there, things may not be the same as you thought...

Backstory: Cassandra did not want to be officially a member of Pheonix, in case Austria fell into unfriendly hands and she could get arrested and jailed, but she still wanted to help out with the pre-evac. She did not make it out of the city in time, but survived the destruction with only a few scratches and a bruise. She has since found the party and is actively working with them.
Current Health: Scratched and bruised slightly, but otherwise Heathy.

Begin Chapter 1 - Dawn

Peter walked through the rubble of the town, looking carefully for any survivors.

"It looks like they hit here hard." he said, as he kicked a small chunk of concrete.

He quickly glanced at a building, and saw someone in the rubble.

"Hey, there's someone now!"

He ran towards Thomas, and began helping him up.

"Sir, are you all right? Can you tell me your name?"

Thomas rubbed his head as stood up, stumbling once, before glancing at the guy who had helped him. "Y-yeah, I think I'm good. My name is... Thomas? Yeah, Thomas."

Vincent walked over, picking his way carefully over the wreckage. "Found someone, I see." He commented, checking the immediate vicinity for danger.

(Lol, is Vincent Yoda or something)

Cassandra immediately looks into the distance, hoping they don't make sure everyone is dead.

No dangers here, except for maybe some falling rubble.

Vincent, satisfied, turns back to Peter and nods. He looks at Thomas. "He could be concusssed. Careful with him."

"No, no. I'm fine." Thomas says, shaking free of any hands that come his way to support him. He stumbles a few steps before taking a breath and starting to walk normally.

"All right then." Peter backs away, then turns to Vincent.

"We should check for anyone else, then get the heck out of here. These buildings look like they could give out at any moment... well, the ones that haven't do, anyways."

"Where is this, anyway?" Thomas asks, frowning.
